- Ignoring the neck and behind the ears.
Sometimes the neck and behind the ear areas are ignored. These areas are often overlooked when having a bath, especially with skits. If you look carefully, these areas can collect dirt and sweat and neglecting them can lead to bacteria's growth and skin issue.
Always make sure to clean these areas while bathing.
- Rubbing your skin dry.
Many people vigorously rub their skin after bathing while drying with towel. But here is the problem. This practice can actually harm your skin. When you rub your skin too hard, you create friction that can irritate and damage your skin.
This is especially true in case of those who have rashes and pimples on their skin. Instead, pat your skin gently to avoid this unnecessary friction.
- Bathing immediately after food
How many of you take a bath after a big meal or after a big breakfast? Sometimes you may do so because you are pressed for time, but it's not a good idea when you eat, your body is directing blood flow to stomach.
If you jump into a hot bath right after eating, it can direct blood away from your digestive system and can lead to cramps or discomfort.
- Staying too long in the bath this is a big mistake,
It might be your happy place, but overdoing this can strip your skin of its natural oil and can cause dryness.
Why does this happen? It is because prolonged exposure to water, especially hot water, it can weaken your skin's natural barrier and lead to moisture loss. This bathing immediately after a workout exercise is very good for your body, but you should not take the shower right away. When you work out, your body temperature rises and your pores open up. Jumping into a cold bath immediately can shock your system and cause muscle cramps. Instead, allow your body to cool down gradually before taking a bath.
- Not moisturizing after bathing.
It is a mistake to not apply moisturizer after bathing. Your skin loses moisture when a having a bath, and if you don't lock it back with moisturizer, you can end up with dry, itchy skin. Natural moisturizers like coconut oil, pure ghee or natural scented oil help create a protective barrier that seals in the moisture, keeping your skin soft and hydrated. You may keep your body wrapped for some time in a cotton towel to absorb oil before wearing your clothes.
- Applying soap to both the feet at the same time.
The risk here is about slipping on the bathroom floor, which can lead to serious injury, so be careful. Always apply soap only to one foot at a time and rinse it off before cleaning the other foot. You may sit down on a small stool to wash your feet to avoid injury.
So these are the bathing mistakes you should not make. A little self care and awareness go a long way in keeping your skin and body healthy.
